See the attached PDF file for screenshots. Perhaps I missed some setting which would eliminate this issue. In those rare inatances when I wish to use the "enhance" function I can change the settings ".all supported." Reboot Photoshop. I will leave the the file handling to "automatically open jpegs(tiffs) with settings as a default seting. Not a major problem for me since I do not anticipate using the "enhance" function very often. Now when I open ANY tiff or jpeg in Photoshop it only opens in Cameral Raw rather than the default Photoshop screen. However, a new issue (nuisance) appeared. Now the enhance function is visible with either jpegs or tiffs. Then I changed the file handling in camera raw from "automatically open jpegs (tiffs) with settings" to "automatically open all supported jpegs (tiff).Ĭlosed CC and and then rebooted CC. Would not work with either jpeg or tiff files. Tried the "enahnce" option for the first time this morning. And the Convert to DNG commmand in Lightroom Classic works when non-raw files are selected. For example, if you use that software to merge TIFF or JPEG images as a panorama, the resulting file is DNG. Camera Raw and Lightroom have already used this capability in the past. But although Super Resolution might work best with raw data, it does not require a raw image, so it is available as could ACR save a DNG file with RAW data with mosaic raw image data.ĭNG can be a container format, so the data in it doesn’t have to be raw. If you are thinking about Raw Details, then you are correct, that cannot be done to a non-raw file, so Raw Details is disabled as shown in the screen shot. There are two parts to the Enhance command: Raw Details (the old Enhance Details feature), and the new Super Resolution feature. The screen shot below shows a JPEG image opened in Camera Raw (after enabling TIFF/JPEG support), with Super Resolution about to be applied. What do you think of this feature? Leave me your opinion in the comments. The Enhance command is available for TIFF and JPEG files because Super Resolution is not limited to raw data. ![]() Adobe should improve this as soon as possible. The fact that the resulting DNG files can not even be imported into Adobe Lightroom I rate as a vaux pas. And yet, in my opinion, it is not a means to create every shot in higher resolution. The new function shows what software is capable of. Nevertheless, we will usually get by with the normal resolution of around 20 MPix and only generate such a super resolution for special requirements. The results are very comparable to the HiRes mode available in the camera, but without its disadvantages. ![]() ![]() Above all, you get considerably more in reserve, for example, for large prints. The call was therefore made from Adobe Bridge. UPDATE With the Lightroom Classic Update this week for verdsion 10.2 Lightroom now can import these superresolution DNG files from Adobe Photoshop.īut on the Adobe blog it can be read that Lightroom should also receive an update here. Other programs only show the JPEG thumbnail or display completely wrong dimensions of the image. Super resolution is a brand new feature in Photoshop, that enables you to quadruple the size of your photos without loss of quality. So much for the much vaunted interoperability of the DNG format. Now DNG sounds pretty good, but this DNG file cannot be opened in Lightroom, at least at the moment. The result is saved as a DNG file with the extension “enhanced”, in the same folder as the original image. The big advantage here is, of course, that moving objects do not cause any problems, because here only one shot is upsampled. There a preview of the super resolution is presented and it is calculated in advance how long it takes to create the image. The popular photo editing application, Adobe Photoshop, recently added a new super resolution feature that uses AI to increase the resolution of photos by 4x. When I choose W x H x Resolution from the drop down and choose a width of 3000 px and height 1700 px and resolution 300 ppi the crop. The image is an imported page of a pdf document. Calling the function in Photoshop is relatively easy with a right click on the image and then in the menu enhance. I am quite new to Photoshop and trying to set a preset on the Crop Tool to crop a series of images to the exact same size each time.
